Functions of Management Paper

Today’s managers and business follow the fundamental management principles which have been around for many years. The fundamentals include four traditional functions of management which include planning, organizing, leading and controlling. These functions help to start up business and keep them running properly and smoothly throughout their years. Managers are responsible for all of the functions or a part of them.
The first function is planning which is to specify the goals that need to be achieved and how to achieve those goals. Managers do the planning which included define goals, establish strategies for achieving those goals, and develop plans to integrate and coordinate activities. Making plans set the stage for actions and major achievements. This function relates to the place I work in many ways, the managers have weekly meetings to plan what the goals and achievement are for the week and future for the departments.
The next function is organizing which means assembling and coordinating the human, financial, physical, informational and other resources need to achieve goals (Bateman and Shell, 2009). Managers are a part of this function as well this is where they organize; determine what needs to be done and who needs to do it. This function relates to my place of work in a few ways, every manager gives everyone tasks to do throughout the day and week. For example, my boss left a prep list for the workers on Sunday that we needed to get done for Monday’s events.
Leading is the third function, which is where managers give the workers motivations and delegation to get the best performance out of them and to accomplish the organizational goals. When managers motivate employees they influence individuals or groups as they work, select the most effective communication channel and deal with the employees behavior issues.
