Something Special Learning Center There are several criteria that come to my mind when thinking of choosing a daycare provider. After all, I am trusting someone else to care for my children while I am working or in school. I want to be able to feel comfortable that they are getting the best possible care while I am away. Cleanliness, I think is number one. Knowledgeable, caring staff, hours of operation and location are also very important things to think about. Based upon my criteria, Something Special Learning Center overall is an outstanding daycare provider.
Something Special Learning Center is a daycare provider located in Findlay, Ohio. They offer care at two other locations as well, one in Waterville, Ohio and the other in Swanton, Ohio. I have only ever been to the one here in Findlay. Something Special accepts children ages six weeks through twelve years. The children are then divided into classrooms to fit their appropriate age groups. And there are about six classrooms with roughly two teachers per classroom. They offer pre-school and kindergarten readiness programs for children that are not in school. Something Special also offers an after school program for children who are in school. One of the first aspects I noticed when I first arrived at the center was the tidy appearance. Cleanliness is very important considering this is where my children will be spending a great deal of time during the day. Right inside the front door is a large common area. This room has a large dress up area with dress up clothes not just for girls but boys as well. It also has a light table for building with special blocks and bookshelves designed with a little Chapin 2 comfy area for reading. Everything in that room is always clean and organized and looks very open and inviting. To the left of the common area is a hallway where most of the classrooms are located. And to the

I bet if you ask any guy in this country if they like Hooters, they would give that look saying did you seriously just ask that question. Hooters is a sports bar mostly for guys, and is famous for its wings and waitress attire. This restaurant is a perfect place to have some wings and a few beers, watch the game, and have a great scenery while you’re there. I like to go there once in a while with some friends whenever a good game is on, but it comes with some consequences between me and my girlfriend. By evaluating the Hooters on I-17 and Peoria, I believe that this is good place to if you’re a guy and a sports fan for its service, food, and environment, but does has some flaws to these attributes.…

Whether you’re new to the comedian/singer “Weird” Al Yankovic, or a die-hard fan, his most recent album, Mandatory Fun, will appeal to listeners of all types. As Weird Al’s first #1 album, it has many different kinds of comedic music styles, like his parodies of official songs, or his parodies of musical genres. He also delves into many different styles like marching songs (Sports Song), Love songs (Jackson Park Express), Rock (Lame Claim to Fame), pop (Tacky, parodying Happy by Pharrell), rap (Handy, parodying Fancy by Iggy Azalea), and many more.…

This is important to me because I remember dreading coming to school when I was younger because I got bored. We can all agree that lectures are boring so I want the kids in my center to have fun while learning. At the star table we have cassettes with fun stories for kids to read and follow along with to begin recognition of words. Play dough at the heart table from time to time to get their fine motor skills developed. At circle time we sing songs to learn patterns. Painting will help the teacher see what child is thinking. Also, coloring can help you see what child is thinking and how they feel. The art centers are to let the mind come alive it also is a great learning experience for children in our center it helps the creativity of a child and helps them learn on their own how to make objects over time. The learning environment is a very important part of a center. I offer plenty of space for large muscle and group activities, as well as, provide semi-secluded spaces for children to have down time. The shelving is low and serves as barriers to prevent toddling babies from interacting with crawling babies. I try to make the room as inviting as possible by using visuals, texture, and music, to create a soothing atmosphere for learning. My daily routine offers reading, movement, observation, sensory stimulation, creativity, and play to help…

There are three main types of childcare settings; these are voluntary, statutory and private. Private settings are those which are set up to make the owner a profit. A few examples of these are private day nurseries, childminders, nannies and work place nurseries. The setting I am focusing on is a private day nursery. The nursery opened 1997 and operates from a private home. It is open 49 weeks of the year, opening from 9-6 five days a week. The setting is able to have 24 children on site at one time aged between one and five. The setting ensures that all children are warmly welcomed and ensure a safe and stimulating environment. On their website they say their aim is to promote a “home from home atmosphere”. The staff meets the children’s care and learning needs. This is done by carefully planning activities to meet all children’s needs and abilities. It is important that the staff build a good bond with the children’s parents/ carers as this builds up the trust between them. This is done by the setting having a good communication between the parents and the setting; they use daily diary sheets, home link books, parent’s evenings and eating plans to ensure that each child’s needs are met.…

I conducted my observation in the reading room of McCain Library, also known as the nap room by many Agnes Scott students. The reading room is a long rectangular space that is very open and has one wall covered in ceiling to floor windows. There are a few paintings and a large fireplace, with a big sofa right in front of it, at the end of the room. The majority of the couches are faced directly towards the windows, where students can people watch while studying. The rest of the room is decorated with several chairs and matching ottomans. There are a few end tables with lamps and coffee cups and students’ keys sitting on top of them. There are also two large dining room tables with four chairs around them, but no one seems to be sitting at the table.…

I interviewed Rachel, who is a parent at Sonshine Preschool. She said that she heard about the program through family and friends who also had children that attend, or attended there. She chose this program for her daughter because she wanted a positive, Christian environment to immerse her child in. She also wanted her daughter to be socializing and learning with a variety of peers. She loves the low teacher to student ratios, and the consistent updates on progress and lesson plans, and how there is a lot of play incorporated into the school day. She highly recommends this program to other families.…

The classroom set up works very well for younger grade levels. The classroom has different designated center areas that allow the teacher to work with a small group while the students transition smoothly between independent centers. An open area for students to meet as a whole group is also helpful. Grouping student desks together allows children to learn cooperatively. This room has an open flow, but does not encourage roaming or open "running" style aisles. The teacher, in a sense, has two desks; the teacher can use the small group kidney table as an alternative desk area.…

Throughout the entirety of my seven week practicum, I was constantly supported by my supervising teacher. I was continually provided with feedback, and if that feedback related to something I needed to work on, I strived to do my best to work on that area, and this was as aspect I was praised on in not only my evaluation report but also my final report. Another characteristic of my teaching that was mentioned throughout my practicum was my behaviour management. I had quite a difficult class for a number of reasons and for the first couple of weeks I really struggled to simultaneously maintain their behaviour as well as teach the full lessons that I had planned. From the first day, my supervising teacher warned me to not try and be the student’s friends and to really be hard and strict on them and she assured me that this will then lead to being respected as a teacher, this was another compliment that was mentioned in my final report, that the students felt respected and that it turn was a great confidence booster for me throughout the prac as I was able to deliver all lessons and maintain the behaviour in my classroom. My knowledge of the student’s in the class and the different ways in which they learnt was another strength of mine that was noted in my programme evaluation. Having this knowledge allowed me to plan lessons that catered to the needs for needs for all the students in the classroom; this also helped improve my teaching and learning strategies, especially for the students who needed more individual help than others. An aspect I worked really hard on when designing my programme was to ensure that my lessons were well structured and sequenced. Before beginning the four week part of my…
