INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT (BA.560)

SEMESTER 2 YEAR 2555

YOUNG EXECUTIVE MBA PROGRAM (Y-34) GROUP 3

GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (NIDA)

ABSTRACT

Broad band networks are increasingly described as essential infrastructure. For residential access, fiber to the home (FTTH) service is considered by many as the last mile technology of the future; it has even been called 'the final broadband service' (IDA & SAKAHIRA, 2008). This study will show the current status of technology fiber to the home (FTTH) in Thailand. How the providers of FTTH deploy the marketing strategy, customer focus, problem and future development of technology. Even though it is too early to paint a full picture of developments in the competitive landscape, initial findings show that the rollout of FTTH has positive feedback from semi-provider, both of office and high rise residential user.

Patton-Fuller Community Hospital currently uses a Local Area Network (LAN) standard within the hospital with certain Departments using a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) standard. The Hospital’s top view IT network perspective has the Hospital divided into two sections, the Clinical Areas and the Administrative Function Areas. The entire Hospital‘s backbone (BN) network structure is a 1000 BaseT Ethernet cable. A 1000 BaseT Ethernet cable also known as IEEE 802.3ab, is the standard for gigabit Ethernet using copper wiring (Wikipedia, 2010). However, in the second half of the Hospital’s network structure, the Clinical Areas, a 1000 BaseF Ethernet cable is the standard. So what's next on the wireless horizon? A new standard, known as Very High Throughput (VHT), will feature data rates of between 4Gbps and 7Gbps, nearly five times the rate of 802.11n, and will operate on the 60GHz frequency band. As such, the new standard will likely have limited range and will be best suited to peer-to-peer applications such as streaming video from one device to another or moving very large chunks of data in a matter of seconds.…
