From Swords to Ploughshare: Three generations of Family Entrepreneurship, Conflict, Transition, and Connection

Business Administration Capstone – BUS 499

Abstract
This paper will describe how successful the business has been at recognizing and satisfying stakeholder interests. This paper will examine the mechanisms that are available to manage relationships with stakeholders and to influence the strategic direction and performance of the company. I will explain why I think board of directors for Space Center Enterprises was or was not successful in fulfilling its governance role and in meeting the challenges it faced. Lastly, I will explain why I think Paddy was or was not qualified to fill in his father's footsteps as CEO of the newly-merged Meritex organization, based on strategic leadership responsibilities.

Introduction
Cinemaplex is a movie theater that has experienced changes due to technology advancements. The change has negatively affected the attendance at the theaters. Revenues have increased but only due to the inflated prices of tickets, concessions, and advertising revenues. Some of the technological advancements that have Cinemaplex concerned are; home theater systems, quick movie to DVD releases, video on demand, and internet streamlining.

Movies remain as popular as ever, but opportunities for viewing outside the theater have greatly increased. While motion picture studios increased revenues through product licensing, DVD sales, and international expansion, the exhibitors-movie theaters-have seen their business decline. 1.
