From Prosperity to Poverty of the American Indians
    History has always been harsh on the American Indian's and the Trail of Tears is one of the best examples of how the American Indians had to endure some of the most inhumane treatments of the way of racial discrimination. There are five civilized tribes in which had to endure the passage of the trail. These tribes were the Creeks, Choctaws, Cherokee, Chickasaws, and the Seminoles. Although the American Indians once lived in prosperity, they were pushed in poverty by the White Man and his Government.
Creeks
The Creek Indians also known as the Muskogee, occupied Georgia and Alabama at the time of the American Colonial. This tribe was known as the Creek Confederacy, and was made up of several separate tribes that had occupied this land during the American Colonial Period. According to the web site Creek Indian, (2000), "The Creek were sedentary and lived in thatched huts, not the teepees ( or wigwams) used by nomadic tribes." out of logs. The Creek Indians raised cows, horses, and pigs along with practicing agriculture in which they grow their own food as well.

    It was 1813-1814 that the Creek Indian war took place, this was due to the fact that the Creeks were worried that the white settlers wanted to take over the land in which provided them with their food and shelter. According to the web site Creek Indian, (2000), "Tecumseh, the Shawnee Chief, led an uprising to unite the Creek with other tribes in fighting the settlers. On August 30, 1813, Red Eagle, aka William Weatherford, led an attack on Fort Mims, in which over 500 settlers were killed.   On November 3, The U.S. settlers fought back   by attacking and   and destroying Talladega, an Indian village in Alabama, killing over 500 Native warriors."
