Friends are those whom you could always approach and seek help from whenever problems nearly knock you down. They are your acquaintance, supporter, and people whom you like and trust. Besides, I think friends are those who influence you much.

What is peer influence? It is a powerful factor in adolescent development. Peer groups are a normal, necessary and healthy part of adolescent development as teenagers are struggling to develop a personal identity and become less dependent on parents. Peer groups provide an opportunity for teenagers to interact with equals. Their friends give them companionship, emotional support, and a sense of belonging. Peer groups allow teens to question values, discuss problems, share information, and practice social skills. Teens learn that they aren't alone in feeling scared and insecure, and others have problems too.

However, the impact of peer influence on adolescent development is generally associated with negative connotations. As a person is growing up through their teenage years especially, their life may be full off peer influence and this can get them into a lot of trouble. Peer groups could bring problems and cause suffering for parents and teenagers if their friends are associated with risky behaviours. It results teens to imitate and join them. Parents may dislike their teenagers' friends, and possibly for good reasons, but it is impossible to force teens to choose healthy friends.

Although peer influence brings bad and harmful effects, there are some things that could help one to mingle with good friends. Paying attention to one's own feelings and beliefs about what is right and wrong can help know the right thing to do. Inner strength and self-confidence can help someone stand firm, walk away, and resist doing something when he knows better.

It can really help to have at least one other peer, or friend, who is willing to say "no," too. This takes a lot of the power out of peer pressure and makes it much easier to...
