French Revolution…
The French Revolution was a turning point in France’s history. It was the first time a population revolted against the monarchy and established a republic. The outcomes of the French revolution on the understanding of Nationalism included creating the “Declaration of Rights of Man and of the Citizen”, abolishing the monarchy establishing a republic, and helped spur the industrial revolution in France. The Declaration of Rights of man and of the Citizen stated that all men were free and the social classes would be abolished. The revolution literally threw the monarchy right off and embraced the idea of a Republic. The French Revolution helped the industrial Revolution making France stronger and faster under the republic rule.

The French Revolution was initiated on July 14, 1789 when the angry French citizens stormed Bastille, in attempts to find gunpowder and free the prisoners taken by the unpopular King Louis XVI. All of France was furious at King Louis XVI for sending France’s economy into a downward spiral of huge debt and poverty. And because France was poor and starving, it burdened the lower class, because the nobility class was not taxed, and eventually they couldn’t hold up. And on August 26, 1989 the national assembly passed the “Declaration of Rights of Man and of the Citizen” This presented the world with an idea and principles of the Revolution and justified the destruction of the government based upon absolutism and privilege. The storming of bastille created a sense of nationalism for France and its citizens because it was a time where they all agreed and a common group opposed the monarchy together.

The whole objective of the French Revolution was to overthrow the government and introduce the Republic to France. Before the revolution France was had a monarchy, hereditary rule, as well as most of Europe.
