French and Indian war DBQ

The french and Indian war was a major catalyst in the desire for independence amongst the american colonies. Although the Britain came out victorious, the consequences outweighed the positives. As a result, the French and Indian war led to Great britain exerting more political and economic control over the colonies exacerbating the ideological divide between the two. Unfair tariffs and exertion of control over the colonies by the British would lead to American colonist screaming for independence.

Document B was a letter written by a Native Indian on the topic of western expansion. This document is important because it set up the French and Indian war. As the colonist were moving further and further west, they would be pushing back the native americans, almost wiping them out. You can also see in Document A that before the French and Indian war, The french dominated areas west of the ohio river. The further west the american colonist would go, the more it would cost the British. This is money they didn’t have, causing Britain to Exert more control over the colonies.

Document C was a letter written by George Washington to General Edward Braddock. This document is showing the Pre-French and Indian war relations between the Colonies and Britain. This letter was written in a very positive tone, showing that pre-war relations between the two were decent. Document D is the opposite. It is a diary entry written by a Massachusetts soldier showing his discontent with the british. This is starting to show a divide between the Colonies and Britain.

Document E Is a sermon in Massachusetts, it talks about how excited the Colonists are, and that they expect to grow, and be a part of the British after the war. Expectations were high in the colonies, But Document F is a British Government document that talked about what actually happened. This Document talked about how the British were going to tax the colonies, exerting more economic
