Freedom of speech has a big impact in the American society. Freedom of speech is simply a civil right guaranteed by the first amendment to the US Constitution. In lamest terms freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation. Along with freedom press, freedom of religion, and freedom of assembly; freedom of speech might just be the most important expression in America.
An example of freedom of speech would be Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech. His speech is much known and has impacted the world greatly. By Dr. Kings act in protesting changed dramatically. Especially dealing with segregation. This falls to the cause of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech. Seeing blacks being treated as slave, can’t eat with whites, can’t drink out of the same water fountain, let alone sit in the same classroom. So with that Martin Luther stepped up. He realized that this is not how life should be for people with different color skin or just people in general. This drove him to be the person he is now. The effect of this speech is that it actually changed the world. He actually had some people seeing eye to eye; and not color to color. Realizing that what has been taking place for so many years is wrong.
To compare this with theory would be with Rosa Parks. Simply because she also made an impact in history. By expressing her rights of freedom of speech. She felt the need to express that just because of the color of her skin color she doesn’t have to move to the back of the bus. This is the message that that Dr. King was expressing. The contrast of this theory is that it’s actually contrast. Unless it ad bids by people who believe in segregation and all aspects that involve it.
