Almost everyone has one, and almost everyone is one. You know, the first person you tell when you find out your crush like you back. The person you go to for advice because you know they will give the honest-to-God truth no matter how good or bad it is. The person you run to when you feel like the world has turned its back on you. The person you spend all night talking and laughing with. What I am talking about is a best friend, your truest companion, your partner in crime. Everyone has their own definition of what their own best friend is like and what an impact he or she has made in their life. There are also countless definitions of what a best friend could be. Someone who has a close personal relationship of mutual affection and trust with another is the dictionary's definition of a best friend. But even though there are many definitions of a best friend, one knows the true meaning of it if they have ever had one.

"Everyone hears what you say. Friends listen to what you say. Best friends listen to what you don't say." What is a “best friend”? A best friend is a title held for the few and privileged. The term cannot be thrown around loosely. Not just anyone can be called your best friend. A best friend has to first meet several qualifications and have many outstanding characteristics to have the honor of holding such a prestigious title. Being a best friend is more than someone that you’ve seen every day and grown up with. A best friend can be someone with whom you’ve known since childhood but can also be someone that you’ve just met, and similar to “love at first sight,” you just click with. The true definition of a best friend is someone that knows you inside. A best friend probably knows you better than anyone you can think of, sometimes better than your parents, and definitely better than you know yourself. A best friend is someone who will always tell you that you look good even on your worst days, someone with whom you have shared your most intimate secrets with and laughed the loudest or even someone you have already made plans to name one of your children after his or her. A best friend always understands you, or at least pretends to, always willing to listen to your opinions and never criticizes them, even if they are a little weird and they always has your back. If someone is harassing you, you know they will be there in a flash to save you. If someone is talking badly about you, they will defend you. They are always there for you through thick and thin, no matter what happens.
For best friends there is a feeling, and an emotion for every event shared together, a feeling of love, and a feeling of hate; a feeling of happiness and a feeling of remorse; a feeling of laughter, and a feeling of tears. She has seen you at your worst, and helped you be your best. Best friends always talk about the future in terms of "we", knowing that they will be best friends for life, always have inside jokes that seem stupid to everyone else but get you are rolling on the floor every time you mention them and they also have a secret language with special codes that no one would ever be able to crack. Although best friends may grow apart and not talk to each other as much, it is safe to say that true best friends are the ones you have for life. When best friends go through these emotions together, they learn and grow from them and become closer than ever before.
True friends are something that can't be placed into words. Friendship should be an everlasting bond between two or more people who feel a connection like a deep rooted brotherhood or sisterhood. Having a best friend is not something to be rushed into or taken for granted. I have four best friends in my life that without them my life would change completely. They are Aira, Hanna, Ming-Ming and Darlene; we named our group BONE which means Bunch of Naughty Eggs. They are the best people that I met in my entire life. Whenever I'm with them I really feel loved and happy. They are always on my side in times that I need them through ups and downs, tears and smiles. We also shared the bad times and the happiness. I know our friendship would be nothing less. I'll always keep in my heart the times and memories that we spent together. I thank God for putting them in my life. They say that friends come and go, and its true but only a few will hold on to your heart forever. The kind of true friends that I have are hard to find so I’m never going to let them go, never! I believe that my four best friends made me the person I am. We have been through a lot together, we have laughed and cried. And I will never forget that once in my life I met Aira, Hanna, Ming-Ming and Darlene, and we shared some of the best moments and laughters of my life. It is unfortunate that true best friends seem extremely rare these days. The world would be happier place if everyone had at least one true best friend. It is such a comfort to have someone to vent all your frustrations, cries, and laugh with. Life is not as fulfilling unless you have a special person that you can connect on so many different levels with. And I feel extremely blessed to say that my life has been filled with many significant friendships. Throughout the years, I have met many different people and shared numerous special memories. What I cherish the most are the times that I spent with my true best friends. A true best friend will love you despite all the flaws and imperfections you posses and most of all, a person that will love you forever and always.
