With the foreclosure crisis spreading like wildfire everywhere and in neighborhoods, leaving abandoned houses, and abandoned pets everywhere, they are showing signs of neglect and declining. You can walk down a street and see houses neglected, abandoned. With the economy in turmoil and people losing their homes because mortgage companies don’t care if you lost your job, due to medical or just no work, so people go on employment or seek some help elsewhere. It’s not just the people that suffer it’s their pets too. A lot of people just don’t call them pets, to these people there are called kids, their babies, but to others they are just dogs, or cats, that they are part of the furniture, that makes a mess and tears up things, like rugs or chew on wood, let’s not forget furniture. Cats will scratch their claws on anything they can, like walls, doors and thing that is wood or cloth. That is a sign of a bad owner, so landlords will not rent to these owners that have dogs or cats which in turn gives the good owners a bad name.
Foreclosures can result from many things like “unemployment, either they were fired or laid off or quit a job, inability to work due to medical conditions, illegal drug use or alcohol addictions” (Weintraub. E 2011). There was a case in California when a “real-estate agent was showing a house when she walked in she noticed three hungry dogs, she found a dead turtle in the backyard and a frightened calico cat that the owner left behind to fend for themselves. Ms. Tippery called the a local no-kill animal rescue/relocation agency and started to work with them to find homes for these dogs, when she found out that one had cancer Ms. Tippery and a co-worker came up with the money to pay for the procedure, and now each of the four animals found a new home” (Vitone E. 2011).
