"Beginnings are usually scary and endings are usually sad, but it's everything in between that makes it all worth living." As we travel through life, we can appreciate such things as this quote from Sandra Bullocks' character in the movie Hope Floats. Sometimes, it's even easier to understand certain things about ourselves, our lives, our family, or our friends through characters of movies. In other movies, we simply allow ourselves to get caught up in all of the drama, or hysterically laugh with the main character as his life leads us through a mix of satire and sarcasm. In my personal favorite category of movies, we empathize with the lead characters as they are ruthlessly stalked by the newest, or perhaps oldest, psychotic killer. All of these types of movies appeal to different people, and sometimes to someone like me, all of them appeal.
Films categorized in the 'romance' section normally lead us through a very realistic setting that ends in a storybook ending. When thinking of this genre of movie, the first movie to normally enter my head is A Walk To Remember, a movie based on a book written by Nicholas Sparks. A story of two teenagers who have known each other their entire lives, but only look at each other differently after one of them is made to do community service. They fall in love and are met with a whole new problem, which is seen through with pure love. An unconventional movie that has been listed as a romance is John Tucker Must Die. This movie follows the star athlete as he juggles three girlfriends, who eventually find out about each other and work together to set him up to watch his heart break. While holding a fair few of comedic scenes, the end shows in this flick that not all stories end with a knight in shining armor and his princess.
Laughter is said to be the best medicine by relieving stress. If this is true, then I imagine we should be living in a stress-free world with all of the comedic movies floating around these days. Miss... [continues]
