First Impressions

“You can not judge a book by it’s cover” is a very famous saying, it means that not everything is what it appears to be, specially people. People tend to classify other people by their looks, which not always reflects who they truly are. A person might be having the worst day, and give away the feeling that he’s angry all the time, while he might actually be a very fun person to be around.
When I first met one of my best friends, I thought she was a very shy person, she wouldn’t speak at all in class. I’ve always been a very outgoing person, I’m loud and a talk a lot, so I didn’t think I could become her friend. My mom and her mom were friends, so she came to my house one day. I invited her to play with me, and we started talking. It turned out that she was the same as me, she liked to talk, and when she started she wouldn’t stop.
There are many factors that lead to someone’s first impression of another. Someone’s personality, their situation, or the way they happen to present themselves all influence the way someone thinks about another when seeing or meeting them for the first time. The way people present themselves doesn’t always suit their personality or show who they are. Sadly, one’s appearance is the first thing that others see, and the first thing that people are judged on. Some people look and dress a certain way either because they want to, or they have to.
Because what people think is based on this judgments, first impressions are usually wrong. That’s why they often are the worst ways of judging people, because it’s not until you get to really know a person, that you are able to understand what kind person they truly are.
