These technological innovations that we have are often taken for granted and it is unfeasible for us to imagine how we can function without them. In certain parts of the world these things are unheard of and the people who live there have not experienced the numerous benefits of modern telecommunications.
Developing countries are currently in the midst of a widespread restructuring of their economies. After decades of state control over the economy, import-substitution-led industrialisation, and the proliferation of state-owned enterprises, many Governments are now privatising their state-owned enterprises, increasing the operation of market forces, and opening their economies to global economic forces. The reforms have raised serious questions about the nature and role of the state in guiding national economies.
