PREFACE

The analysis and interpretation of financial statements refers to the process of determining the financial strengths and weakness of affirm by establishing the strategic relationship between the item of balance sheet, profit and loss account and operative data. It is a process of a financial statement to obtain better understanding of a firm’s position and performance. The purpose of financial analysis is to diagnose the information contain in financial statements so as to judge the profitability and financial soundness of the firm.

Thus, financial statements analysis can be defined as “the process of identifying the financial strength and weakness of the firm by properly establishing relationship between the item of balance sheet and profit & loss account”. The various methods or techniques used in analysis financial statements, such as comparative statements, common size statements, trend analysis, cash flow statement, ratio analysis, leverage analysis.
