Acknowledgement

Firstly, I would like to thank God for His grace is enough for me to complete this project. I would also like to thank to my team mates Bryan Wong, Chuah Yeong Shen and Jason Lee for the past half year working closely together to make the project a success. Besides that, I would like to express my gratitude to the project supervisor, Dr. Guo XiaoNing. Without her, this project might not progress smoothly. She always prepares to give her valuable advices and encouragements whenever we need them.

Additional thanks go to the residents of A3-1-6, Yi Qing, Kai Wen, Keith, Leo and Ivy who letting their place for us to complete the project. Finally I would like thank to my dearest companion, Wey Shu Wan who always there for me, and her tireless support and encouragement.

Abstracts

Speech command control is not a new technology in today world and it is very suitable for controlling the robot. It allows user to perform parallel tasks especially when hand- busy or eye-busy situations.

The design will be centered on a microcontroller that handles all the inputs from the IR and sonar sensors, voice recognition system and Bluetooth. On the other hand, the microcontroller will process all the information from the inputs and send the signal to the corresponding output like LCD display and motor driver.

The advantages of the mobile robot included: It can be speech commanded by different people regardless of who trained the system. Besides that, the users can have alternative way to control the robot when one of the methods is not functioning or working desirably.
