A Student Survival Guide isn’t the greatest title that I would give this composition of notes as I don’t
believe it’s a matter of “survival”, but a tool full of resources to assist me in my future studies here at
University of Phoenix. After preparing this guide, any reader will have the tools at hand to make
informative, conscious decisions about their own education and how they choose to pursue it.
At University of Phoenix, many opportunities were laid in front of me for the taking. The technological
tools like a library full of reference material is just a click away as is the different centers made available to
each student. I took much liking to the Center for Writing Excellence on the web as it challenged me in
ways that I don’t believe a traditional classroom setting would. In using the different exercises, I have
become more aware of not only the words I use, but how I relate those words to others. It was a real wake
up call for me. I also enjoy the Course Syllabus for planning purposes and the Visual and Audio Tutorials
that help me to identify my strong points and my weaknesses that I must work on to become successful.
The option of downloading these appendixes is ideal because I can download the material and then take it
with me to listen to during my busy day. This just adds to the convenience of distance learning and I enjoy
it so much. The majority of exercises were provided by a website entitled: http//bcs.bedsfordmartin.com and
challenged me to work to be the best I could be. I also will use tools from the Grammar Guide and the
Thesis Generator as I progress in my studies as I found a personal interest in both that will increase my
drive to succeed.
