Supervisor is defined as a person, who supervises workers or the work done by others,
(Supervisor, 2010). Supervisors are sometimes perceived to have their position viewed as easy, laid-back, or useless. A good supervisor demonstrates skills and responsibilities given to the position. Responsibilities include effective communication skills, determine effective orientation and training methods, and find ways for improving productivity for teams.   Conducting performance appraisals and resolving conflict is also some responsibilities of a good supervisor. The supervisor must maintain good employee relations. The following details best practices for each of the mentioned responsibilities. By perfecting these responsibilities, one can become an ideal supervisor for his or her employees and the company.
Demonstrating Communication Skills
I believe communication is considered the basic principle of business. Employees at all levels of business need to learn to communicate effectively for the business to prove successful. Debora Dalley and Lois Burton, (2010, Winter) says regarding leadership, “However self aware, genuine, and honest we are, the ability to get others to follow comes from our capacity to communicate effectively. Highly influential people are usually articulate, willing and able to listen, and are able to present their ideas with clarity and conviction.”
I would consider the fear to communicate normal should the individual speaking be expected to remark on a topic unfamiliar to the speaker. I suggest, as a supervisor, become informed. Know how to perform all positions you supervise, understand company policies and procedures, and know what the competitors are doing. There are so many things a supervisor can be informed of. I recommend reading all applicable information as possible.
