Question 1
Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing principally with the impact of actual or imagined science on society or individuals or having a scientific factor as an essential orienting component.
While science is a major element of this genre, this scene will start with a time setting in the future that contradicts known facts of history, for example this will be in year 3021; they will not be conversing, for they are in fear of the unknown. This is because they have been running away from Aliens that where destroying their town so they were the some of the survivors of human kind (Neale, 2007). Since science fiction films includes a setting in outer space or involving aliens or unknown civilizations, this is shown by the flying object in from of a space ship that is so large to the extent that its shadow darkened the sky. Inside the ship is assumed to be the aliens they are running away from for they are trying to save the human race. The approach of the alien ship is also signified by the large sound they had before turning to see what’s really making the sound, only to found out that it is the spaceship (Neale, 2007).
In science fiction films there is less dialogue, this shown with the narration of the story by the narrator, this is also the same with film noir there is the use of a narrator, to really explain what’s really taking place. This is to create suspense and tension in the film for if you don’t listen carefully you will miss a lot of the film and therefore will not understand the whole film at all. The since in dialogue also contributes to the mood of the science film for it will be fully packed with action that have never been seen in real life. This does not only show that there won’t dialogue there will be but it’s just that the dialogue will be short.
Sound effects plays a major role in films especially science fiction films for, it creates mood of the film and ensures that there is continuity in the film. Ssound effects are a... [continues]
