Every person has their own role to play in this society, which cause them to have different point of views and different opinions on the exact same issue. As a consequence of that, people interpret the definition of an abstract concept with their own unique observations and understandings as well. The characters in the play “Stolen” by Jane Harrison, who were removed from their homes at various stages of lives as a result of the government’s assimilation policies, are not exceptions. Each one of them has their own unique understanding to the word “home” deeply down their heart consciously or unconsciously.…

Ponyboy gets out ok, Dally burns his arm, but a huge piece of wood falls on Johnny, breaking his back, and burning him badly. Rent is personally one of my all time favorite productions. It is a Broadway musical and motion picture that is set in New York City’s East Village during a time period when HIV and AIDS was a common issue. This musical expresses many other issues through its content. Most of these issues are things that the characters must learn to deal with and try to fix throughout the span of the film. Some of the problems depicted are the characters struggling with drugs, understanding sexuality, paying their rent, and living with HIV/AIDS. These different issues each contribute to the fact that in this world there are many different types of people who are often viewed in many different ways.…

During class, my group discussed how watching the film Fences changed our understanding for the play Fences. We discussed that throughout the movie, the dialogue flowed smoother compared to trying to understand and read it in play form. We also discussed how the movie brought out more raw emotions throughout the characters which made them more likeable on the screen than they appeared on paper. Our example is Troy; he seems like a horrible person and an unlikable guy reading the play but in the movie, his personality portrayed by actor Denzel Washington makes him a very likable guy despite his actions. Also, the theme of baseball is shown more than the play with the visual representation of the baseball on a rope swinging from the tree. In…

The Breakfast Club is a movie made in the 80's about 5 very different teenagers who are forced to spend the day in detention. At first, they appear to be judgmental of the others but by the end they learn to respect one another because they aren't so different after all. This movie is still very applicable and popular. The movie is so well received because of the characters, the message and cinematography.…

The protagonist of “RENT” is Mark. He had a lot to overcome throughout the whole musical. The antagonist of the musical was Benjamin Coffin, who was the local landlord. He also uses to be the roommate of Mark in “RENT”. While everyone was struggling to survive as young artist Benjamin was nothing but a nasty nag to all his former roommates. Another complication in the musical was when Tom Collins loses his girlfriend Alex who was a drag queen. Well I really meant a boyfriend you know where I’m going with this. It was tremendous impact on Tom because they were in love with each other. But was shocking the most was when Benjamin decided to give a helping hand to Tom for Alex’s funeral. It wasn’t expected from him because of the way he uses to nag and treat his former roommates. But I guess everyone has their own time to come around.…

One of the most famous plays ever to hit Broadway, “The Phantom of the Opera” written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is a classic that no one can deny to be amazing. Its brilliant plot of a distorted musical genius that haunts an opera house in Paris and unconsciously helps a beautiful woman with her singing career and falls in love with her can seize anyone who watches it. Also, the dazzling music and setting launch the audience back into the time in which this incredible play takes place. But now a new version of this wonderful play has been created in the form of a movie that gives it a bit more spunk and pulls the audience, even more, into a grueling love triangle between a beautiful young actress and two men who would fight to the death for her affection.…
