The Use of Violence:
The Portrayal of a Double Identity Within

When the use of violence is introduced, universally, humankind undoubtedly disagrees. People dismiss violence because it is unacceptable in society. It is ethically wrong and goes against all rules set by society. A good society is one that promotes peace and non-violence. People look for a good neighborhood by researching the percentage of low crime rates and the surrounding area's reputation. No one wants to live near violence; they avoid because they are afraid to deal with it. There are two ways to deal with violence: you use it or you avoid it. If you use it, society will be against you. If you avoid it, society will be with you. Most people choose to avoid it and sometime act defensively when the topic of violence is brought up. The movie Fight Club shows that violence is inevitable no matter where you are. Society labels the use of violence negatively, but Fight Club shows a deeper view of the use of violence. Violence is not always irrational, sometimes there is a cause behind the action. People would rather blame violence on materialistic things and events then realize they are the cause for violence. The violence shown in the movie Fight Club is portrayed as a work of art by three important factors; the glorification of violence, the escaping of life, and a double identity.

Violence was glorified all throughout Fight Club. The movie made it seem like violence could be something used for good. The fights in Fight Club were not random fights. The club was organized with Fight Club rules; all the fights were planned. There is no victim in Fight Club; everybody was there because of their own will. The trust in the community and the agreements club members shared also glorified violence. In Fight Club, the use of violence released people's stress, work pressure, and anger. After the fights, they would feel mettle, fearless, and free. Violence was organized and agreements were involved....
