Field Experience Part 1 |

Blandford Elementary School home of the Blue Jays in Effingham County.
Blandford Elementary School only being few years old still looks brand new from the outside and inside from the paint on the walls to the bushes and shrubs in the round-a-bout out front of the school. My first day at the school I had orientation which included a school tour, books used in the classrooms, a visit to the school nurse, school counselor, and Principal Karen Durkin. Mrs. Durkin then showed me where my classroom for this Field Experience would be with Mrs. Kellie Wadley.
The hallways, classrooms, and doors were filled with student’s projects, papers, and drawings that they have done. As I walked around the school looking at all the student decorated doors and hallways I begin to enjoy where I’m at. As soon as you walk into the school you see art projects that the children have complete throughout the year. There was a different space for each grade level so every student has their turn to shine with their art project being on display for everyone to see. The school being very student oriented I could tell by the teachers moral was very high and the kids and the teachers really enjoy where there are as well. The school being districted for the lesser income part of Effingham County the teachers really do a great job to help the kids see past that and push themselves to do better things and enjoy going to school to where they won’t want to drop out when they get into the Middle and High Schools.
Me being the one of the two only males in the entire school the other being the maintenance man Mr. Paul the children look up to me because they have another male figure that they can lean on. Learning this right when I walked in I prepared myself for that, but it was actually the girls that felt like they needed to have more of a connection with me rather than the boys.
