September 14, 2011

Dear Lakeside Faculty and Staff:

The Lakeside PTSA invites you to submit requests for Academic Support for the 2011-2012 year. The purpose of the “Academic Support” line item in the PTSA budget is to support those academic needs of Lakeside’s students, faculty, and staff that are not funded by the state, county, or federal government.

The money that has been raised by the PTSA Enrichment Fund is to be used only for expenditures that will enhance student learning and achievement in and related to the classroom. As a general rule, extra-curricular activities and clubs will be required to support their activities through club dues and their own fundraising efforts.

The Academic Support budget has in the past covered such requests as academic competition fees, SAT materials, AP manuals, and classroom enrichment materials.

For all Academic Support requests, please submit the attached form to the Main Office by Friday, September 30, 2011. (Please note that department chairs need to be notified of requests for coordination within departments). There is a place on the request form to indicate that the department chair supports your request.

The Academic Support Committee and PTSA Board representatives will meet to consider these requests and will notify all who have submitted request no later than mid October. Funding requests submitted later will be considered as funds are available. Please note that these funds are for implementation NOW versus waiting until the end of the year. No funding will be available without submission and approval of this form, even for items approved in past years. After this submission period, future requests may be considered dependent on the funds remaining in the Academic Support budget.

Lakeside families and the PTSA are pleased to provide support for these additional
