Fast Five

The movie that I have chosen to write about is Fast Five, released into theaters June of 2011 and grossing over $155 million. Starring Paul Walker and Vin Diesel who have also starred in at least one of the previous films, but now they add Dwayne Johnson. One of the biggest reason that I picked this movie to write about is because of the symbolism of it. With that being said many people might wonder if that is the only reason to like a movie. Well the answer to that would be no, there are so many other reason to like a movie. For example you have the storylines and also the actors who play a big part in making a movie good but you also have the way a movie is edited. Before I actually go into detail about what makes this movie so great I want to give a little bit of a background on it. Brian and Mia now have a baby together but in order to keep their freedom they must pull of one last job, this time in Rio de Janeiro. In order to be able to pull this job Brian played by Paul Walker and Dom played by Vin Diesel must come up with a very skilled team of drivers, the best that can be found. So after getting everyone gathered in Rio de Janeiro they start to realize that not only is the richest most powerful man after them but also Luke Hobbs played by Dewayne Johnson. Hernan Reyes is the richest man in Rio de Janeiro and Brian and the team are planning on stealing all his money out of the vault. Brian and Dom have planned to steal $100 million from Hernan. Little did they know that this job would be the hardest one they have ever pulled off and that is if they pull it off. When planning this all out they first have to figure out how to get into this vault of his, so in order to do this they get a package on the inside of the building with a remote control car in it to get a good look at the vault. Come to find out this was not just any ordinary safe but the best that anyone could buy. Not only do you have to have the passcode to get in but also a hand print too, doesn’t sound like such any easy thing to do. So the big question is how does one get a handprint of someone else’s hand let alone the most powerful person in the country? Gisele one of the members of the team decided to take a day at the beach, what guy could resist talking to a very pretty girl in a swimsuit. Somehow or another she managed to get his hand on the bottom part of her swimsuit just perfectly enough that it would work on the vault. The next part of getting this job done is being able to pass the cameras without being caught, a lot harder than you would think it is. After trying multiple times with some of the fastest cars around they realize that it is going to take a lot more than just a fast car to get through this but the question is what. They all knew it had to be something that no one would ever expect but what kind of car would that be…..Cop Cars. With all that being said they decide to go steal some cars. At some point Hobbs actually does catch and arrest the team but in the process of taking them to the plane his team gets killed, so Hobbs then joins sides with Brian and Dom. He helps with the stealing of the vault in any way that he can without getting caught or in to much trouble. At the end of the movie we see this team pull off this well thought out plan. From the high speed chase to the switching of the vault which we don’t find out they actually did till the very end. Hobbs then refuses to let Brian and Dom go free but he does give them a 24 hour head start to get away. The very last scene we see Brian challenge Dom to one last race just the two of them to see who the better driver is. The story line behind this Fast Five is very easy to follow and to understand, but the biggest thing about this movie is understanding where everyone fits in and why they are there. In order to do that you would need to see all the other movies before this one. What I love the most about this one though is how it is so easy to follow along and see how thins pan out from one moment to the next instead of just jumping around like you see a lot of other movies doing. The write made it so that you can follow along from the minute they start planning out this big job to actually going through with it to the very end. Another thing that is never forgotten about in these movies is scenes or people from the past films. Every now and then you see movies that forget all about other movies made before it so the audience tends to get lost along the way. Now you can’t have a good movie without good actors. The first person that pretty much everyone knows is Vin Diesel, this is not his first time in a Fast and Furious movie and I am sure it will not be his last time. Diesel is an amazing actor and can pretty much play any part you put in front of him. In this movie he plays a somewhat bad guy but in a way he is also a good guy, always putting his friends and family first. Paul Walker has also been in another one of these films. Walker is an amazing actor one who can do most of his own stunts and can always keep a straight face when needed. So who is Dewayne Johnson, the new comer to these movies? A lot of people don’t really know him by his name, he is more known for his wrestling name The Rock. It takes a lot of time to find the right actors for movies and if you pick the wrong one it could break the whole thing. All the actors and actresses they have picked for Fast Five did such an amazing job playing their rolls and making sure that they had done everything that they needed to make it feel like you are really there in front of them watching everything go down in person so to say. You can tell the difference from a good movie and a great movie with what they do when it comes down to the editing. When you can’t tell if someone else is doing the stunts from the person actually playing the part in the movie, that’s some really good editing. Being able to think that everything was taped in one shot without having to go back and redo something, takes a lot of time a work. Making a movie is not has easy and people might think it is. Editing is not just about the picture though but also about the sound. Can’t have a movie without good sound, what is a movie without music and sound. Being able to understand everything that is being said is important. With Fast Five everything is made very clear and the actors speak loud enough that you can understand them and not have to keep going over the same spot over and over again. As clear as everything sounds in this movie you know they have to have the microphones in the right spot at the right time. The thing that I love about Fast Five is that symbolism is so great. When watching this film the main thing that stuck out to me is that family means everything to them. Family is family you don’t have to be blood to be a part of someone’s family. This is a good action movie for a family to watch together. Over all I think that Fast Five was one of the best movies that has came out in the last few years.

After reading the story of the Low Five, it appears the new coach Shirley did not understand the complete concept of the leadership process. She was peering through the lens of only her coaching role, and not the lens of the basketball team, which were her (followers) and the leadership Situation which was her (method of training). I believe if Shirley had been willing to view all three lenses of the interactional framework surrounding leadership process, her vision would have been more reasonable and clearer as it related to the role of being an effective and efficient coach. I view Shirley as an Autocratic leader; she was negative and centered in her own power and decision making regarding the welfare of the team. She expected the team members to do what they were told without thinking for themselves, and she took full authority as well as assumed full responsibility for the success or failure of their quest (Kilburg, 2011).…

Films that I particularly favor are thrillers. One reason Thrillers become so enjoyable for me, a sense of diversion is created making the viewers more indulge in the movie all the way to the ending. The plots are usually twisted, climatic, suspenseful and intelligence is often use far as the writing perspective to result in an ecliptic viewing of the movie. A really great thriller will usually bring a shock factor by the climax, then the movie will receive a better understanding from the beginning to end. Another genre of films I enjoy are Musicals they are fashionable and express emotions through singing. I am really into lyricism so I enjoy comparing the actual expression of the each character's individual story and the progression…

    Fab Five

There seems to be a fine line, a three-point line, between pushing the envelope and pushing a revolution. In 1991, five freshmen from the University of Michigan brashly stepped over that line redefining the world of college basketball as we knew it and in the process, revolutionized the relationship between style and sport. These men were "fresh" in more ways than one, causing an entire nation to dub them fabulous. They brought a hip and a hop to a game that was previously flat. Anyone following college basketball loved or hated to love the "Fab Five," evincing that either way five things were on people's minds or television screens. Whether you were a kid begging your mom to take you to a sporting goods store, like I was, to "get those black Nike socks" for your next game, or an adult watching through squinting eyes as five pairs of extra large shorts and swagger loomed over your favorite team's home court, you were full of awe.…

Storytelling is more important to me than anything else, and I believe film is one of the most rewarding and honest forms of storytelling. Ever since I was a little kid I have been in love with movies. For my final project, I chose to learn more about my favorite director, Martin Scorsese. From as far as I can remember, Martin Scorsese's films have always intrigued me like no others have. There are many reasons why I am drawn to his type of films and his style of directing. Martin Scorsese has directed films that support his ethnic background. He has revolutionized the motion picture industry with the films he has directed. Scorsese has a unique approach in directing his films. Lastly, Scorsese's favorite actor to star in his films is Robert DeNiro, who is by far my favorite actor of all time. This topic holds much value to me because movies are an escape from reality that I enjoy. I do not believe many people realize how influential movies and all other media are. We already know that watching a movie is what people do to relax, when they are bored, its something to share with a friend or loved one, or when the movie just plain appeals to you or draws your interest. The main reason why this topic is so important to me is because one of my favorite things to do is just kick back, relax, and watch a great movie.…
