Success is not something you can see or point to therefore everyone has a different concept to what success means. Upon being asked, "What is success?" I automatically thought that was a no brainier. Until I attempted to write my paper. I was at a loss for the correct approach to my answer. According to Ralph Waldo Emerson, the answer to that question has many different answers and there is not one right answer. However, I belief in order to have success you must have God in your life because success is definitely "a result or an outcome" or "an event that accomplishes its intended purpose" as stated on dictionary.com. Having a successful life is not having everything you need and want.
Sadly, because I think in pictures, when I first thought of success I pictured having a big house, a fancy car, and expensive clothes. Socially that is due to the media and the changes society has taken, stamping the incorrect value on life. It is as if materialistic things are more important and valuable than anything else. For that reason, it is hard for me to believe that "he who dies with the most toys wins." Success is not measured by the materials one obtains but rather by how you achieve something and, after you are finished you may obtain certain benefits and rewards from your success. Therefore, the quote is misleading because the person that wins when they die is the one who lives right by God.
A successful life is one that lives right by God. Someone who lives their life without God dies with nothing and becomes nothing. Those who live right by God are filled with hope, faith and love. As a reward for living a successful life you encounter love and you live with hope. People who have loved in their life have accomplished something major in their life. Those who live their life with hope have learned to be true and calm when dealing with life's events. Hence, this is the reason why the person with a good hand may play horribly while someone with a poor hand plays well and becomes successful.
Success by Ralph Waldo Emerson was on point about success. He defines success as having life's simplest rewards. "To laugh often and much" makes a day successful. As being capable to "respect" others, "endure the betrayal " is a success in itself. Being able to "find the best in others" and most importantly "leave the world a bit better This is to have succeeded."
In theory, to have a successful life is a good thing which is not measured by materialistic things; but rather by a number of different gestures and accomplishments. Additionally and most importantly success is living fit close at hand to God. So, success in my eyes is the whole lot.

I agree with Waldo Emerson's piece, Success. He described success as obtaining life's most down-to-earth bonus. "To laugh often and much" makes a day successful. As being capable to "respect" others, "endure the betrayal " is a success in itself. Being able to "find the best in others" and most importantly "leave the world a bit better This is to have succeeded." A lot of the times success is often accomplished through or determined by someone's occupation.
When I was a little girl I wanted to be a teacher then a fashion designer or photographer and at one point a judge; all successful professions. When I asked others what they thought I'd become I received responses such as an operator, a lawyer or even a radio show host. After reviewing what I had a passion for and what I was good at, I saw an overlap. I came to the conclusion that I was going to end up somewhere in the communications field; that is where my success laid. With communications I have a very wide variety of job opportunities. However the one that best fits me is advertising. Overall advertising is a paid for endorsement by an identified sponsor; it is also the communicating function of marketing. Its sole purpose is to...
