Fascination with Serial Killers
In my opinion most of the world is fascinated by serial killers. I think that one of the main reasons of this is because of all the publicity. The media makes serial killers into celebrities because of all the attention they are given and that fascinates people. It’s almost like watching a real life soap opera. People keep watching all the reports to find out what’s going to happen next. Some of the media coverage is so detailed it makes you feel like you’re part of the action. It gives you something else to focus on besides the drama in your own life. I also believe that a select few are fascinated by these killers because they wish they could be more like them. Not so much the killing part, but the confidence the serial killers have. Serial killers are so confident in their own actions that they think they won’t be caught. I say this because many of them are able to kill several times before the police even realize that they have a serial killer on their hands. These kinds of murderers are charismatic and self-confident and normal people find this very interesting. And unfortunately there are probably a few that wish they had the courage to be more like these killers and take another’s life. This is very sad, but true. Serial killers fascinate people for several reasons, whether it’s because of the glamour and glitz or more personal reasons. It gives Americans something else to focus on for a short while in their busy lives. I don’t think serial killings would hold as much fascination for people if they happened every day.
