Family and Friends Comes First:
My grandmother was the type of person who put her family and friends first. She would try her best to make sure her family was always taken care of, or lend a helping hand to a friend in need. If they needed extra cash[->0] to pay a bill or just needed something to eat she would open her house, purse, and her heart for them. I know it sounds like she never did anything for herself to make her happy but I think she felt by helping others made her feel happy. My grandmother worked at the same job for over 50 years and she never complained about it. She enjoyed the people she worked with and the company she worked for. She worked for one of the DuPont companies in downtown Wilmington, Delaware working as a cleaning lady. Then she would come home and take care of her family and friends. When I was young I ask my grandmother how can she do all these things and still have time to enjoy herself. She turned to me and told me she had super powers, and from that point on we all called her super granny. My grandmother played the numbers once or twice a week and if she won anything she would treat all her grandkids with something. In 2007 I found out that my grandmother had Alzheimer’s and I didn’t believe it. I didn’t want to believe that my super granny couldn’t remember things. I knew she would always remember me; I was the main one that came to see her when I was home. The last time I seen my grandmother was in December 2007 right before I PCS to Korea. I had to tell her my name six-seven times and it hurt every time. She lived everyday to the fullest walks, walks that she had been doing for years, sometimes she couldn’t remember where she was and we would have to go find her.
