LOCATION: There is a high level of people migrating to another country for greener pasture, more experience, education, etc. With the rate of such movement; there is a high tendency of people settling down in a foreign land. There is a common drive that pushes foreigners to want to mix and ‘feel at home’ thereby encouraging them to have friends and spouses among the natives of the land. Once these foreigners stays for a long period of time or decided to reside there, there is huge possibility that the choice for a marriage partner will be from the native in the land or someone else from another land who had also decided to make the country their home.
EDUCATION: Many people look out for one who is more educated and experienced in terms of knowledge and skills; therefore going out of their ‘border’ is the best way to find someone who fits the criteria. In most cases, people who marry for this reason choose mates from a more advanced country or an individual whose education is more of a standardized level than theirs.
SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS: the most common reason behind people getting married is the fact that they want stability which brings about them choosing a mate from a higher status. This is frequent among the females because they want to feel protected and secured economically as well as being reputable in the society.
RACE: There are some people who want to marry from a specific race due to their social beliefs and cultural standards. For instance an Asian may want to marry a Caucasian because of their perspective towards raising a family, unlike Asians who believes that once you marry into a family, you should be responsible for everyone in the family; the Caucasians beliefs lies on individuality. Another reason could be based on the desire to have a child that has the traits of a certain race.
