Facebook, a Social Network
Social Networking has been a part of also most everyone’s life in America. There are numerous of different social networking sites: MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, etc. However, I believe Facebook is the best social networking site.
The 2011 statistics provided by Facebook show that Facebook has nearly 620 million registered users; 46% of Facebook users are teenagers and young adults; and an average of 200 million people access Facebook via a mobile device each day (Facebook Demographics Revisited). I, myself, use Facebook daily; it is a part of my daily routine. I check my Facebook page whenever I can. To me, Facebook is very important and necessary because I have a long-distance relationship. My girlfriend is in Vietnam and I’m in America so calling and texting does not work for us but Facebook does.   I can keep in touch with my girlfriend and chat with every day. Actually, I met her through Facebook; without it, I think I would still be a loner. My girlfriend and I also know a lot of people who use Facebook to keep in touch with their loved ones. I believe Facebook can help maintain a good relationship not just between couples but also between friends.
Facebook has lots of great features. “Today’s birthdays” is one of them. This feature reminds the user of their friends’ upcoming birthdays. A person only has one birthday a year. If you only have one friend, then it’s not difficult to remember his/her birthday; but what if you have thirty or forty friends? This is where Facebook’s feature “Today’s birthdays” shines. When a user clicks on this feature, a calendar will appear with the birthdays of user’s friends. The user now has enough time to buy a nice gift or get a cute-looking birthday card for his/her friend’s birthday. This feature makes Facebook a great social networking site.
