For children, people who are very confused and severely demented, they don’t have the full mental capacity to choose right diet for them and it should be discussed with line manager etc to decide what best for the individual’s best interest.…
If I had any problems or I was worried about some child not eating or drinking enough I could always go to my manager or the children’s key person if they were not in I could go to member of staff and tell them what I have observed and they will discuss this with the child’s parents. Sometimes the children do not want to eat the food they have chosen so I have to ask my manager if that child can have something else to eat or drink. On their lunch time the children can have one fruit and one milk or cup of water. During the snack time I was struggling with children’s behaviour, because sometimes the children were shouting at each other or they were throwing the fruit on the floor. If I had problem to deal with it I could always ask a member of staff to help me doing the snack time.…
We all may think we are doing the right thing in teaching our children the proper food to eat, or teach them right from wrong. We teach our children to buckle up in the car. We get them the necessary immunizations to make sure they don’t get sick. We wouldn’t let them play with fire or a loaded weapon. So how could we let them consume food that could give them health or medical problems in their future? Today, one in three teenagers are considered obese. This tops the major health topics of teens next to smoking and drug abuse.…
When introducing an infant to table food you're only supposed to stick with one type of food at a time. However, that is hardly ever the case, most infants are introduced to whatever it is that their parents are eating. Which is a combination of different foods, whatever that may be on the plate for dinner that evening or whatever snack that they're shoving in their mouths. More than likely they will allow their infant to eat right along with them. When introducing infants to new table foods this process is typically the norm for all ethnicities and backgrounds. Well, my husband and I had to find out that our youngest son had food allergies the hard way. This was a surprise to us, because my husband suffers from peanut allergies,…
I decided to write my paper on elderly nutrition. I have chosen this topic because I believe nutrition is important at all ages now, especially in those of the elderly. Fattening foods are around more now than ever, so the problem of obesity is getting out of control. Obesity…
In pediatric nursing, one consistently looks to the possible causes of childhood complications and illnesses. Child health can be affected by many factors including environment and genetics. However, one of the early suggested ideas, which can affect a child’s health directly after birth as well into childhood, is whether or not an infant was breastfed. The clinical problem being studied here is the effects of early feeding choices on child health. The PICO statement for this clinical problem is: In…

I try to keep a variety of healthy snacks in our house. I know that my son wakes up with an appetite, and he really doesn’t mind what he eats. Too often we neglect to actually sit down and eat actual breakfast, but he have healthy substitutes. If there are oranges, plums, and bundles of bananas right there, why should he be allowed to eat candy? His dad always replies with “It won’t hurt him” or “he’s just a boy.” Neither of which are good answers. It will hurt him, and yes he is a boy, but boys also need their proteins. As I have gotten deeper into my nursing major. I’ve realized that I cannot argue with him enough about how important proteins are especially for a little boy.…
