Extended Essay Geography Introduction Agenda 21
To what extent were the Agenda 21 goals achieved in Hannover and its surroundings?

https://maps.google.de/maps?oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&q=hannover+map&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x47b00b514d494f85:0x425ac6d94ac4720,Hanover&gl=de&ei=ZjmwUb7MLsfSPJqOgdAI&ved=0CDAQ8gEwAA
Hannover is the capital of the Lower Saxony, Germany. It was created in 1946. It has a population of 516.000 people and is therefore the largest city in the state. In the year 1995 Hannover decided to join the Agenda 21 and start a local agenda. This agenda was kick started with the EXPO 2000. The EXPO 2000 was part of the start for new projects. Kronsberg was the first and biggest project connected to the EXPO 2000. It was established in the late 1990s and there are about 6600 people living in 2,600 apartments, 150 condominiums and about 400 private townhouses. The Agenda 21 aims to “prepare” countries for the 21st century and get certain standards throughout.
The investigated parts of Hannover will be Kronsberg, Laatzen and for comparison the List and the Suedstadt. Kronsberg is the district which is directly associated with the EXPO 2000 whereas Laatzen is “only” the district closest to the Messe Gelaende. The List and the Suedstadt are only assessed for comparison and for portraying influence of the Agenda 21 goals in older districts of Hannover. Each of these districts will be assessed on building quality (insulation, sustainable energy supply). The assessment of these districts will be carried through with visual proof. I will be taking pictures of indications on the points that should be awarded from 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best.

Location | Insulation of buildings (windows & walls) | Energy supply(From where and how?) | Sustainable environment (Green spaces/garden?) | Availability of primary and secondary education (number of facilities)Primary Secondary | Kronsberg | | | | | | Laatzen | | | | | | List | | | |

Tectonic plate’s movement creates ocean basins, mid-ocean ridges, through collision. Colliding plates push sedimentary materials into an uplifted mass of rock that contains numerous folds and faults. The Earth has undergone a number of mountain building periods. The process of creation is first by the accumulation of sediments then the tectonic collision causes rock deformation and crystal uplift and finally the isocratic rebound continues to cause uplift despite erosion and causes the development of new mountain peaks through block faulting.…

I will be using various methods to reach a final conclusion as well as using the NEF survey and previous charts to answer the question and compare. NEF recently did a survey showing the around 41% of towns in the UK are clone towns I am going to find out if Godalming is part of the 41%. It is a small town with a population rounding to around 22,000; in comparison to Guildford (another clone town) with a population of around 67,000 it is very small. The benefits of being a clone town are people visit to shop as it contains major shops, but many people do not like the loss of individual Identity and feel that this comes with the 'clone town' label.…
