For economical construction of any project, OPC has to be replaced in certain amounts by materials such as Fly ash, Silica fume, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag. This project aims directly at studying the behavior of GGBS in the following ways : Is This is the only material Available in the market.

* Strength : Finding optimum mix proportions of what???? at which cement, GGBS and aggregates Use some other word to give maximum compressive strengths under * Durability : Studying the resistance behavior of concrete (OPC+GGBS) to chemicals (Usingsulphate resistance test) * Workability : To achieve optimum workability without losing significant amount of strength of concrete using OPC and GGBS

During testing phase, the initial cement content would be 70% and GGBS replacement would be 30%. The compressive strengths would be noted by casting samples in different ratios of both materials. The initial water to cement ratio (w/c ratio) would be 0.45. It would be increased depending on workability conditions of GGBS treated concrete and slump tests. The compressive strengths would be found at 3, 7 and 28 days for all samples at given w/c ratios and mix proportions. Results will be input after conducting tests.

Introduction

1.1) Material Selection :
In order to cater for the high prices of OPC, which got worse after the economic crisis, a waste material was to be used in its replacement. What about the sustainavle construction and CO2 emissions .. . download some material from the internet .. visit library so that you may find some words to write. The material used to replace OPC, on the research of which, this project aims, is Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag.

1.2) Importance & Purpose of GGBS :
Following are the advantages of GGBS, due to which it was selected for research project,

* Environmental benefits: A control on the CO2 emissions * Chemical resistivity: GGBS along with OPC can resist chemicals such as sulphates and chlorides when exposed to harsh conditions. It has a moderate resistance to sulphate attacks. * Shape of molecules: Granulated blast furnace slag is a glassy granular material, and its particle distribution, shape, and grain size vary, depending on the chemical composition and method of production, from popcorn like friable particles to dense, sand-size grains. Grinding reduces the round particle size to a cement fineness for use as a hydraulic cement * Strength: Development of equivalent or excessive strength as compared to concrete but at a much slower rate
