Choicepoint is a global institution that focuses on data collection in the United State (US), the data is usually birthdates, employment information, names, social security numbers, personal information and credit histories. This data is been sold to government agencies and over 50000 businesses. This makes them the leading house for data selling to customer. Choicepoint which is a data institution now accidentally sold data collected from citizen to the wrong person which they thinks has good intention of business one Mr. Olatunji Oluwatosin, a Nigerian national living in California, who use this information for its selfish purpose. Moreover, Choicepoint on its part do not conduct proper verification on Olatunji Oluwatosin credential before allowing do business with them. The Nigerian national was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment being found guilty of the crime and fine $6.5 million. In additional, Choicepoint was instructed to inform all US citizen that their information has is misused by one of their customer who they thinks has a genuine intention not knowing that is a thief at the State level, while at the Federal level they were charged with multiple counts of negligence for failing to follow reasonable information security practices. So, ChoicePoint agreed to pay a $10 million fine, the agency’s largest ever civil penalty, plus $5 million to compensate customers for losses stemming from the data breach. 2. Introduction
