EVE TEASING
It's the same story every day. You are waiting at the bus stop early in the morning, minding your business as usual, when a group of guys sitting on a wall behind the stop, as if on cue, burst out into a loud rendition of "Chholi ke peeche kya hai, chholi ke peechey!" or something like "Anney, madipa pakuraaru, anney idupu a pakkuraaru!"( ohh Brother look at the folds of the hips! Or something like that) .
You valiantly try to ignore them and jump into the next bus which comes along.
To your dismay, the bus is extremely crowded, and to top it off, an old man cannot keep his hands to himself and makes it a point to grope your breast every time the bus driver applies the brakes and to make matters worse you can feel him getting a hard on.
You have had enough and you decide to get down at the very next stop, but you have to fight through the huge group of guys hanging off the footboard of the bus and you get groped on your way out, by seven pairs of hands at least.
You are left feeling violated, but you have to go to work/college/school, so you call an auto and get into it and heave a sigh of relief. But your relief is short lived as you notice the auto driver adjusting his rearview mirror to catch glimpses at you, and you try you level best to keep a somber expression and you stubbornly look at the road instead.
At the next signal you are caught off guard by some guy who puts his hand into the auto through the window and pinches your breast (in lightning speed) as he zips by. By the time you get over the shock and the pain, he has sped off and you are left feeling dirty and filthy and all you can think of, is how you need to take a

The bus is crowded; it is hot outside and there is a discontent silence as a pungent smell diffuses. People plug their noses, hold their shirts up to their faces, grimace; anything to express displeasure and attempt to mitigate the smell of aged sweat and vomit mixed. The silence is suddenly interrupted by a lady who loudly declares to the friend sitting next to her that someone on the bus smells awful. The source of this smell is sitting near the front of the bus and is now silently staring down at his taped together shoes, hunched over as if to hide his face from view. He is wearing too much to be comfortable on this warm day, as if he is wearing the only set of clothing he owns. Salt stains line the collar of his shirt and the distinct…

As in the case of Acosta v. Southern California Rapid Transit District 2 Cal.3d 19, 84 Cal. Rptr. 184 (1970), the plaintiff walked through a half-filled bus to find a seat as she did this, the light changed and the bus started behind another vehicle approximately 40 feet behind it. The driver knew that on the next block there contained a mid-block crosswalk for pedestrians and as he approached the crosswalk he noticed several young boys crossing so he placed his foot on the brake and let the bus coast for about 15 – 20 miles per hour. He abruptly placed the foot on the break when the car in front of him came to a sudden halt in order to avoid hitting the boys going through the crosswalk. In that sudden stop, the plaintiff and two other women were thrown forward in the bus and fell over the coin box and onto the floor placing plaintiff at the bottom. The court in this case favored the plaintiff due to the issue that the bus being a common carrier needed to have the utmost duty of care towards its passenger’s and the court had acknowledged that with the evidence given the driver of the bus had not used the utmost duty of care towards his passenger’s since the driver had knowledge of his daily route and he should have taken more precautions when he saw plaintiff standing, knowing very well the traffic was not a steady flow. As in the case of Acosta, you, the bus company, are held responsible for carrying for your passenger’s. Nicholas the driver did not have the utmost duty of care when driving before Ms. Schultz was seated, nor did he consider her age when he decided to proceed driving prior to her being safely secure in a seat. Ms. Schultz being a frequent bus rider, I’m sure encountered Nicholas the bus…

A little over a year ago I was a senior in high school, leaving school with the weekend ahead of me, ready to unwind, and enjoy the night with my friends. On my trip home my mother called me and asked if I could go out of my way to pick my sister up from school; reluctantly, I tell her that I will. Before that call my friends and I had established that I would be driving us to the senior class tailgate before the football game that night. Wanting to get to the tailgate faster, I begin to force my foot on the gas pedal a little more, without thinking about the consequences of my risk. Suddenly, I look back in my rear view mirror and see the dreaded red, blue, and white lights flashing. I look down at my speedometer and realize…
