IOS 7: A Breath of Fresh Air September 18th, 2013 changed the course of history. Well, at least for Apple users which make up a pretty substantial chunk of the population considering 27% of smartphones in the U.S are IPhones (Chansanchai). This is the date that the IOS 7 software update for IPhones and IPad. The update was both controversial and highly anticipated. Over all, the IOS 7 software update proved to be a success and a step in the right direction for Apple thanks to the system’s eye popping new features, continued ease of use, and ever in demand efficiently. Apple’s IOS 7 update was a leap of change for the company that included long awaited helpful new features. The most recognizable new feature of IOS 7 is the clean, bright new look that some have characterized as “looking like an android”. Some other exciting features include the Control Center: all of the user’s most used controls in one handy place, AirDrop: an effortless way to share pictures or a document, an updated camera app with filters and panoramic capability, and even a square frame for taking photos suited for Instagram. You can even make your phone a hotspot for internet access. These are just a few of the feature items included in the update that users went crazy over. Martin Bryant is his review calls the update, “a bold overhaul you will grow to love” (Bryant). As Bryant statement implies, the new features have taken users a while to get completely comfortable with, but it is for certain that the update was a very necessary move for Apple who was beginning to be overshadowed by the Android market. The update changed things just enough to make it interesting, but not so much that users felt they had to relearn how to operate their phones. Despite “looking like an android”, the update did not complicate operating the device. Sale may be high for Android, but about 30%-40% are being returned (Why My Mom Bought an Android). And,

    Is Change a Good Thing?

Firstly, when one talks about change, one thing comes into mind: Technology. And with technology, come the word: Apple. With Apple, one conjures up the image of an iPhone. No longer the simple red apple that we eat but one that we use all day long. Well, when the legendary late Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone in January 9, 2007, at the Macworld 2007 convention at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, the world went in uproar, some dubbing it the ‘Jesus Phone’. That was how well the iPhone was received. The release of the iPhone would change the world and market of phones forever. The iPhone remains the most popular phone in the market now, with each release of its phone(s) setting a benchmark for other phone companies to outdo it. This creates a huge market for bigger, better, more innovative, accessible smartphones. Without the iPhone, I doubt that any other companies would have started the “Smartphone Craze” and many of us if not all of us would still be living in the pre-iPhone era a.k.a The Era of Nokia-and-the-normal-phone. The iPhone gave us the power to do everything, from social networking to gaming, all on the small sized but big powered device called the iPhone. It gave us much…

Every year a new update for the iPhone is released and following that is the release of the actual new and improved phone, in this case the iPhone 6 and 6 plus. On September 24th, 2014, Apple launched the iOS 8.0.1. update, available to all phones, new and old. This update did the opposite of what it was intended to do by disabling cellphone service on an untold number of iPhones among some other small issues. This faulty feature affects my client’s negatively yet not drastically. Many individuals have released complaints over twitter and tech news discussing the problems occurring with their phones. This update was originally intended to fix the original bugs that came with the iPhone. Instead of claiming a potential crisis my client has decided to pull the update from having the ability to be downloaded until each and every bug in the system is fixed. My client stated, “We are actively investigating these reports and will provide information as quickly as we can, in the meantime we have pulled back the iOS 8.0.1. update.” This statement has now answered media questions that could potentially be asked shining a negative light on my client.…
