Christians believe that life begins at conception and not birth. The sixth commandment says, "Thou shalt not kill." Christians believe that committing murder is a sin, even if the child hasn't been born yet it is still murder and therefore a sin. Some Christians feel they have a responsibility to be active in the prevention of euthanasia. They do this by expressing their opinions on the internet and in magazines and newsletters. Some Christians also stand outside of hospitals and try to persuade people entering the medical facilities that “Euthanasia is wrong”. Then we had the opinion of the physicians in the medical field. Supporting statistics state that the medical field is 60% to 80% opposed the though or act of Euthanasia. The 40% to 20% of physicians, that were for Euthanasia, argued that it was the patient’s choice. Is it the patient’s choice?
Choice, The right to have an opinion, is it up to the uninvolved people to decide. Yes, I know the terminally ill patients are not in it alone. But for one second put that theirs shoes on your feet and talk a walk in their life of pain and suffering. It is not like the everyday suffering. We could not even imagine what their bodies and minds are going through. No, I am not saying that a terminally ill person can wake up one morning and decide I am tired of this life, do away with me. What I do believe is that that person has to face reality and decide what they will want to happen to them when they are in a non competent state. The way to do that is to get a living will or make arrangements with family members before the times comes for the decisions to be made. Do you really want to see a person suffer? The advantage of making living will is everyone knows your wishes and you still have a say in what happens to you.
