Ethics in Business
Outsourcing has become a large part of businesses across America. Outsourcing is shown by having businesses from America placed in foreign countries to have certain job functions completed. There are benefits for the business owners but this does not help the America economy very much. Money is the basis of outsourcing. Money paid towards these businesses and for their functions goes directly towards that foreign countries’ economy. By moving these businesses out of the United States, business owner can pay lower wages to their employees. Because these businesses are no longer located in the United States the money doesn’t go toward the American economy. Since some of the American businesses are located in developing countries it is much more inexpensive to run them. This is because the U.S. dollar is worth more in their country. Also, we lose many American jobs to those in other countries. Currently the United States is suffering from sever unemployment therefore placing open job opportunities in other countries can seem absurd. The advantages and disadvantages seem close in number, but looking at the situation from the perspective of the other countries it may seem a bit different.
Since these businesses are located places other than the U.S. it is difficult for the business owners to control the hours that people work, the safety, security, and many other factors that go into running a business. Payment is cheap and conditions can be poor. An outcome based approach would easily show the outcome of these issues. Workers take these low income jobs because it is all they know of or have. They couldn’t possibly make the money anywhere else. By moving our businesses to foreign countries, we benefit by selling our products nationally and what not, but can loose income for the economy.
