Ethics Awareness Inventory
Introduction
Ethical decisions are complicated decisions. As an individual how do you know what the right choice is? Some situations may have two unethical decisions but you most choose one. Every individual may have their own ethical decision making style. When there is a need to make an ethical decision I tend to look towards the obligation behind the decision. The responsibility and the intention of the decision are more important than the results behind the decision.
Obligation/deontology
Humans have the right to make their own decisions. The human instinct is important for individuals whose ethical decision making style is obligation. At times the results of a decision may cause financial issues but it may be understandable since it was an ethical decision being made. The human race has an obligation to be ethical. Along with the obligation, there is the respect for human dignity and appreciation. There are three main principles followed by the obligation ethical decision making style, being appropriate under any circumstance, the respect for human dignity, and being committed to promoting the freedom and autonomy.
Character/virtue
The ethical decision making style, character believes that the ethical decision is based on the individuals ability to reason of a moral judgment. The ethical standards are not important when making an ethical decision. The ethical made by the individual is based on the good character the individual holds. Without a good character a person is unable to make an ethical decision. A person with good character has qualities such as being honest, having wisdom and integrity and ignore any rules in place.
Results/utilitarianism
Based on the ethical decision style of results, believe that people have the right to live a good life. When making an ethical decision, the result of the decision is more important rather than decision being made. The approach taken is always thinking about what could be done... [continues]
