Ethics and Cultural Diversity Sensitivity Seminar
Every two months in any major police department across the country police officers attend an ethics and cultural diversity sensitivity seminar. The seminar brings the officers up-to-date on ethics, and cultural diversity issues brought to the management’s attention along with future information. The ethics and cultural competency assessment test needs stop provoking with no right or wrong answers to find the best officers in the department. Ethical behaviors defined as the ethical concepts a police officer uses in the difficult decisions made every day. These difficult decisions become some of the toughest tests an officer deal’s with daily. Public trust and confidence ensures that police officers have the highest integrity of honesty, and truthfulness. Police administrators use the ethical and cultural diversity sensitivity training to ensure that police conduct standards remain at the top professional level and does not erode public trust. Police officers trained in ethics, cultural diversity, and sensitivity become well prepared, more confident, and better equipped to meet the needs of the community as well as their own personal and professional goals. This understanding into cultural diversity and the concepts used by police departments to work with the community action programs to understand the people (Rodriguez, 2009). The learning objectives of the Ethics and Cultural Sensitivity Test defined as becoming more culturally understanding and ethically responsible for the officer own actions. Each officer learns to stop stereotyping and prejudice, while at the academy and every two months after the hiring phase. The following test questions outline defines the subject of ethics and cultural responsibility of the police officer. The Self-Assessment of Police Officers Responsibility:
• As a police officer understanding “ethical and cultural competence,” what comes to mind (Andrulis, Avakian, Delbanco, & Taylor, 2002)? • What are the most challenging priorities of the multi-ethnic cultural nature of the law enforcement? • Has the police department attempted to meet the needs of ethical and cultural diversity? • What is cultural diversity?
• What stereotyping and prejudices in communication becomes a disadvantage when confronting racial incident? • Communication and understanding to the issues of ethical and cultural diversity competency in gender bias problems? • What has the law enforcement department done to provide the best service and protection for the multi-ethnic and cultural population in communication? • What community outreach programs used by the law enforcement for cultural diversity, education programs, materials, and forums for multicultural communities (Andrulis, Avakian, Delbanco, & Taylor, 2002)? Ethical and Cultural Competence
The organizational managerial studies define ethical and cultural competence as the ability to work more effectively in diverse situations. Using the open mind from the self-assessment test provides an understanding of traditions along with the ethical parameters when dealing with difficult racial situations. Each officer continues to the correct attitudes, skills, behaviors, and policies that enable him, or her to work effectively. Every large American city defines different areas with dense populations of races, cultures, and religions. Society defined as a complex cluster of groups and individuals bound together by the rule of law and ethical standards of the law enforcement officers.
