The opportunity to evaluate original research serves as one of the many foundations to both scholarly writing and research (Grand Canyon University, 2013). Therefore, to enhance this process I will critique empirical research articles for the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness in understanding leadership ethics. So, using the literature presented within in the works of “Predictors of Ethical Code Use and Ethical Tolerance in the Public Sector” by Neal Ashkanasy, Sarah Falkus, and Victor Callan along with “Advancing Ethics in Public Organizations: The Impact of an Ethics Program on Employees’ Perceptions and Behaviors in a Regional Council” by Itai Beeri, Rachel Dayan, Eran Vigoda-Gadot, and Simcha Werner, and finally, “ An Empirical Study of Leader Ethical Values, Transformational and Transactional Leadership, and Follower Attitudes Toward Corporate Social Responsibility” by Kevin Groves and Michael LaRocca comparisons will be made on the relevance and need for research purposes. In comparison, the authors of each study utilize ethical behaviors for the purpose of comparing relationships, perceptions, and beliefs associated with measures of ethical practice. The case study “The Twenty Dollar Bill” involves students and their Fourth Amendment rights. The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that citizens are free from unreasonable search and seizure from the government. However, school administration (an extension of government) does have the power to implement searches and seizures that may be outside of the constitutional scope in order to maintain good order and discipline in the school. This is evidenced by the Supreme Court case New Jersey vs. T.L.O where the Supreme Court ruled that requiring schools to obtain warrants for searches would interfere with the swift and informal disciplinary procedures needed in schools. However, the Supreme Court also stated that there must be reasonable grounds to conduct a search and it is limited to individualized suspicion and not group searches. During routine testing of a toy collection that was due to be shipped to South America at the end of this week, the quality assurance department discovered there were traces of lead that are above the legal limit for younger children. This has created a problem that needs our immediate attention. First, I identified the problem. We have discovered, through routine checking done by the quality assurance department that metal whistles produced at our company contains traces of lead that’s higher than the legal requirement. Then I gathered all the information needed to address and rectify this problem. We will be unable to ship the metal whistles to the schools, however, because we are committed to excellence we must find an alternative so that we keep our customers and maintain a high standard of quality service to them.
