Management is employed by organizations with the anticipation that they the skills to deal with various types of ethical issues on a daily basis. These skills are developed through education and experience. For example, the types of ethical issues in which managers are relied upon to deal with range from various types of harassment, issuing disciplinary action, and termination of employment. At times, these situations can be extremely difficult, thus managers must have the ability to make the appropriate decisions. The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationships between social issues and ethically responsible management practices.
Different types of managerial roles exist throughout the world. For example, there are Human Resource Managers, Department Managers, Floor Supervisors, and Executive Managers. Even though the titles of these different types of managers are different, essentially their roles are ideally the same. They are all responsible for making sure their subordinate employees arrive to work on time, adhere to company policies and guidelines, and perform their jobs in the appropriate manner. Additionally, managers are responsible for making sure that employee and departmental goals are being met. If the goals are not being met, managers are responsible for coaching the employees and critiquing areas for improvement. In order for a person to be an effective manager, they must possess certain management qualities. To illustrate, they must be an ideal role model for fellow employees. Essentially, managers are ones in which subordinate employees look to and turn to for help in all issues, thus it is extremely important ethical responsibility is effectively portrayed by individuals holding these positions.
