* Phillip Island is an Australian island located about 140 km to the south and south-east of Melbourne, Victoria. Phillip island got its name from Arthur Phillip, the very first governor of NSW, Phillip Island is a natural breakwater for the shallow waters of Western Port. * Philip Island is visited by an estimated 3.5 million tourist annually.  There’s no service of public transport available on the Island, so a bike or car is the best way to go. * -------------------------------------------------

Phillip Island experiences milder weather than Melbourne and is tempered by the ocean breezes. The daily maximum temperature for February is around 24.7°C, while for July it is near 13.4°C. The annual rainfall is 782.3 millimeters, with June being the wettest month of all. * -------------------------------------------------

The popularity of this island between Gippsland and the morington peninsula has much to do the colony of small creatures that live on the Summerland beach. * -------------------------------------------------

The penguin parade is here is a major international tourist attraction. after sunset little penguins the world’s smallest at 33 centimeters tall, come home to their burrows in th sand dunes after fishing all day in the sea , tours run each night for this show put on by the little penguins. To protect the penguins tourists are restricted to a certain point and cameras are not allowed. * -------------------------------------------------

The visitors center also offers a simulated underwater tour showing the penguins foraging for food and avoiding predators, summer land beach is near the western tip of the island 6 km south west of Ventnor * -------------------------------------------------

Philip Island is also home to the international motorcycle grand prix the world championship superbikes and Australian touring car championships. Motorsport enthusiasts all over the world watch live converge to see the big name drivers and riders in action on the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The Grand Prix Circuit is home to massive motor racing events each year, including the Moto GP, World Superbike Championship and the V8 Supercar Series.
