Conflict in the Story in the Film Tuck Everlasting

I think that the Tuck story had one main conflict. It is an external struggle between the tucks and the Man in the Yellow Suit. This is an external conflict because it is a physical struggle between characters. The Tucks and the stranger have different views on the spring. The Tucks think that it should be kept a secret and that people shouldn’t live forever Tuck even says that “life is like a wheel and we Tucks are like stones, never moving or changing”. The stranger thinks that people should live forever. He further angers the Tucks by wanting to use Winnie to advertise the spring he said “I won’t let just anyone drink this water just rich and important people”.
Mae ends this conflict by killing the stranger by whacking him with a shotgun. Another conflict is Winnie vs. Winnie. This is an internal conflict between Winnie and herself. She is trying to decide on whether to live forever with Jesse, or to live a natural life. She decides to live a natural life because she thinks it is the right thing to do. She is at first reluctant but then decides that she can drink from the spring any time she wants seeing as its her wood. In the epilogue it is revealed that she does not drink from the spring but dies a natural death. Tuck says “Good girl” when he sees Winnie’s grave. I think these two conflicts are the main conflicts in the story. They both have very serious disagreements, and in both someone dies in the internal struggle Winnie dies, but in the external struggle the stranger dies.
Both sides are different but are the same as well. Each side has his own idea of who is right and who is wrong. In the end one side always wins.
