Introduction to the Pepsi brand
The following essay will offer information on the world famous brand of Pepsi-Cola and give insight on the history of the brand, why it has become so successful as well as provide information and statistics on the brand.
Pepsi as a brand has been highly successful in the food and beverage industry, this essay will give insight into how the brand was able to keep up with the social and economic conditions of its consumers as well as discuss why Pepsi is a healthy brand and lives up to Vega’s Healthy brand criteria.
The Pepsi era began when a young pharmacist by the name of Caleb Bradham who was looking for different ways to attract people to his pharmacy developed Pepsi in the summer of 1898. Through trial and error trying to develop something that would bring people to his pharmacy he decided to invent a drink, the drink that is now known around the world as Pepsi-Cola. Caleb first started to market his product to his clients and with great feedback on the drink he began to advertise it to the public. Soon after the first advertisement the sales of the new soft drink began to go up. Being in the pharmaceutical business Caleb knew importance of good distribution system but had not yet made the change from horse carriage to motor vehicles, However, the popularity of Pepsi forced him to make the switch which made his business one of the first to move from horses to motor vehicles, a huge advancement in this time which would also lead to inspiring many other companies to take his approach on transportation.
During the Great Depression and continuing into the World War II Pepsi highlighted the low prices of the drink because they knew that people where not making money and had to narrow their budgets, a huge step in creating customer loyalty by placing the customers problems before that of the companies profits.
