Essay on Good Manners
Good Manners

Manners refer to a person's way of behaving towards others. It is the manners which separate the man from the animals. A person without manners can hardly deserve to be called a human being.

Manners are the outcome of good breeding. They make our day to day life smooth and easy. A rich man has a crowd of flatterers around him and a powerful man may be obeyed by people just out of fear. But a man with pleasing manners is genuinely loved and appreciated by all.

But a man whose manners are bad has no respect for others. He uses words carelessly and behaves rudely towards other and causes a lot of ill-will and unpleasantness. In the end, it is he himself who suffers the most. Everyone avoids him and he is forced to live almost in isolation.

Good manners imply polite social behavior. They are the means of developing social relations. They help a person in making good friends. They build one's reputation as one grows up. The social standing of a person is judged by his manners. Polished and polite manners create a healthy impact on the society.Good manners are the backbone of the society.

To live well in a society, money alone is not enough. Even the richest man cannot afford to have had manners. For a man may have enough money to buy all things than he wants; but if his manners are bad he will have no friends, and no one can live happily without friends.

There are certain fundamental principles on which all our manners should base. They are as follows. We should not hurt others. We should avoid pride, vanity, emotion, anger and harshness of voice when we behave with others. We should give patient hearing to others. These are some of the basic principles upon which all our manners and behaviors should rest.

One should be sympathetic towards the weak and old. Whenever we see an old’ person in need of a seat while traveling in a train or a bus, we should at once accommodate him. We should speak gently. Even if anyone is harsh to us,

In “The Decline of Manners,” Martin states that “younger people in today’s society are ruder than people were twenty or thirty years ago.” Martin also goes on to reveal that young people are “slovenly, less communicative, and generally impolite to one another.” Martin argues that increasing informality of dress, lack of communication and mean-spiritedness all contribute to this behavior. She targets certain age groups communicating that “this is obvious to anyone over the age of thirty.” A hasty generalization of younger people is apparent here. The issue displays a stereotypical attack on all younger people of this generation, labeling them all the same. A vague authority was used by associating a prominent Ipso/Reid poll to support her argument. Martin refers to an Ipso/Reid poll without detailed identifiable timelines making her article unsustainable of fact or place. As conveyed it is very difficult to agree with her objective findings.…

According to the article "Is There Anything Wrong With This Picture" by Lauren Tashis and Kristian Lewis is seems to be that because of phones and other technology, people are more rude than they were in the past. After reading over this article and looking at all the evidence I determined that having good manners benefits everyone. First of all, people with good manner tend to be more successful. For instance, in this article the author states that "Studies show that teens with good manners are more likely to be successful: they get better grades, and are more impressive in job interviews. This shows that having good manners can help you get good grades and even secure you a job. Another great piece of evidence to support my claim is that…

In the name of Allah, and praises and peace be upon the Prophet of Allah. There is no God but Allah the Kind and Merciful, and thanks be to Allah, the lord of the Great Throne. We ask that you bring upon us your mercy and the doors of your forgiveness, and protection from our own sins, and forgiveness of our minor transgressions. I declare that the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) fulfilled the trust, and conveyed the message, and we are witnesses to that reality. Whom Allah chooses to guide, there is nothing and no-one that can mislead him and whom he chooses mislead, there is nothing and no-one that can guide him. I'm talking about manners, adaab, akhlaaq - whatever you want to call it. Just to give you some idea of how seriously Islam takes this issue, let's look at some sayings of the Prophet. The Prophet, in Muwatta Imam Malik said ``Verily, I was sent for no other reason, except to perfect the noble traits of character'' - in other words; one of the Prophet's goals, in fact, the primary mission was the perfection of how people behave - their manners. An idea of the supreme importance Islam attaches to the cultivation of good manners and noble moral qualities can be obtained from the under-mentioned Traditions of the Prophet: “The best of you are those who possess the best manners.” “On the Day of Recompense nearest to me will be one who displays in one’s daily life the best of manners.” “On the Day of Reckoning the most weighty item in the ‘Balance of Deeds’ will be good manners.” Once a Companion asked the Prophet, “What is there that takes a Muslim to Paradise? ” The Prophet replied, “Fear of God and good manners.” The Prophet, again, is reported to have said, “A Muslim…
