Why toys benefit a child’s development
Learning toys offer a lot more than just fun for kids. Play time for kids is like work time for adults. While most adults, don't think of kids play time as being productive, it actually offers kids many opportunities to learn and grow physically, mentally and socially.

So if play time is actually like work time, then learning toys are like work tools. The right toys help kids get the most out of their play time. That certainly changes the way we normally think of toys, and places greater importance on the role of parents in selecting the right toys for their kids.

Children participate in a chosen activity or play
Children should get a range choice of what play they want to play but it also needs to relate to what they enjoy and like doing the most. Parents also play a big part of this because they can organize what their child is doing but also should give the child a choice. For example the child I was observing, she had a choice of that she wanted to do and she was allowed to pick her favorite unless she was behaving bad and she weren’t aloud but this haven’t happened often.

What activities includes gross motor & fine motor skills
Physical, manipulative, imaginative and creative play all include the gross & fine motor skills. A baby starts developing gross motor control from birth, beginning with the control of her head and torso, continuing until she has mastered sitting, crawling, standing and eventually walking, running, jumping and the range of activities that an adult can do. Children learn new gross motor skills by practicing until a particular skill is mastered. For example gross motor & fine motor skills include:
balance – the ability to maintain equilibrium
body awareness – for improved posture and control
crossing of the mid-line
laterality – awareness of the left and right sides of the body
major muscle co-ordination
spatial orientation – awareness of the body... [continues]
