To conserve fuel and save lives the 55 miles per hour national speed limit should be restored. The reason I think it should be restored is because it would certainly save lives and it will most definitely save gas. However if the price of gas goes down then I think it would be still exceptional. The distribution of speeding tickets would also go down. I do think that since gas prices constantly go up people will not be happy to have to move so slow while paying a high amount for gas. Higher gas prices have forced some American drivers to trade in their SUV's for smaller, more fuel efficient cars. They are also forced to combine errands in an effort to drive less. Most drivers have ignored one easy way to conserve fuel, easing up on the gas pedal. The national 55 miles per hour speed limit was put in place after the 1973 Arab oil embargo was repealed by Congress. According to the Congress's Research Service, the speed limit reduced gas use by about 167,000 gallons a day. Over all gas demand remained flat in the first decade. More reasons why the national speeding limit should be restored is to save lives and lower speeding tickets. it would give police officers the time to catch any extreme perpetrators. Time consuming drives are key to speeding tickets. If more and more people followed the speeding limits every day then it would save time and the lives of many. Many fatal deaths are caused at high rates of speed. We know fuel consumption goes up pretty rapidly if you drive 75 miles per hour versus 55 miles per hour. The cars policy director, Tim Castleman, founder of the Drive 55 Conservation Project said "a driver would save only 10 minutes going 80 miles per hour instead of 55 miles per hour on a 30 mile trip in an average car but would spend $3.20 more for gas", but a national speed limit is likely to prove difficult. When it was in place the law was very unpopular in some areas with wide open highways. Rather than not agree with the law and risk

There are so many reasons why laws on speeding should be effective in so many communities and countries all over the world. This argument is about why I am for the limitations of speed limits. Have you ever wonder what the world would be like if there were no laws especially on the roadway? There would be mass chaos, and death.…

No amount of practice or freedom should matter when it comes to the lives of others. Driving is a serious matter and should be given to adults who are mature enough to handle driving. If teenagers took a step back and thought about the consequences of driving, they would understand that no one's life is worth a little bit more freedom. No parent should have to bury their child on account of the risk they took by getting behind the wheel. The driving age should be raised to save the millions of lives that could be lost…

In the statistics I read, I found that in every category there was “speeding too fast”. Obviously that is a problem in Utah. In my experience with drivers, I have noticed that many people speed and don’t even realize that they are doing so. I think that speeding is a problem because so many people die from it. On the page it stated that “15.2%” of people die from speeding and that “14.7%” of teens die from speeding. I will admit that it is shocking that those percentages are so high. I didn’t expect that many deaths from just going to fast in a car. It has brought new light into my mind that people need to be more aware of how fast they go.…

Police Brutality has become a serious topic in today’s time being that every time you turn on the TV you see them mention another act of violence from the police and since that were in 2015, cellphone cameras are being used to capture every single second of it, so it won’t become he say, she say evidence. According to Salem Press Encyclopedia, police brutality is abuses of authority that amount to serious and divisive human rights violations involving the excessive use of force that may occur in the apprehension or retention of civilians. Police brutality has become the issue of today’s time with civilians of this country; recent examples of police brutality are Eric Garner, Freddie gray, Sean Bell and it’s sad that’s there even more incidents. Police has been advised that some shootings are unjustified and wrong but they find a loophole, finding the victim to be wrong instead of the police officer. Most of the time it has been minorities that have been the victim in these incidents, and that is why police and minority groups have been having major conflicts that effects the country. I agree with this article that police brutality is a major issue and I believe that it’s wrong and need to be put to an end.…

As for myself, I don’t think it is enough to change or lift the U.S speed limits because I believe that speed does kill, Americans are not properly educated and trained, and everyday driving should not be viewed as “fun”. Driving is very serious because it can result in deaths. While the United States already deals with many speed related fatalities every day, I don’t think that getting rid of our speed limits or raising it to a higher speed will lower the rates of car accidents/deaths. Although the “stringent safety requirements imposed by the Department of Transportation for vehicles sold in the United States ensure that our cars and trucks are the safest in the world” (Knutson 621) It does not mean that the person getting behind the wheel is the safest person, and for that reason we have speed limits to protect our lives the best way it possibly…

Speeding is against the law for a reason; it is extremely dangerous and almost always plays a part in vehicular accidents. It leads to death in numerous cases, and that can cause an enormous weight on someone's conscious. Most speeding is done on main highways where a person generally has chances to pass other vehicles. This is especially life threatening when someone is on a high traffic interstate and their rushing to get somewhere. People end up going too fast and not checking all their blind spots. The Dangers of Speeding

I will never ever speed again. Speeding cost way too much time and aggravation to continue speeding. This ticket has made me realize that all speeding does is put me and other people in danger and waste a lot of gas. And in these economic times wasting gas isn’t the best idea. I am unemployed and I’ve been trying to get a job to pay for this ticket so my parents wouldn’t have to. This is good because now I know that speeding is just wrong. I can drive 45 in a 45 and some one could be doing 60 and catch a red light and I’ll be there right next to him, sure he got there faster but I didn’t waste five dollars in gas just to catch a red light. Statistics show that if the speed limit is 65 and you go 75 it will get you to your destination 10 minutes faster but you also increase your risk of accident by 25%. Honestly I don’t want to risk an accident over 10 minutes of time. It’s pointless.…

I believe that Congress did not simply enact a national speed limit because Congress wanted to give each state the chance to vote on the subject of raising the speed limit in their state and then be able to enforce any speed limit laws for their state. I believe that the federal government unreasonably expressed their federal authority by threatening the states with withholding federal roadway funds for the states that did not adhere to their request of increasing the speed limit.…

My opinion on whether the speed limit is effective is no. The reason I don’t feel it is effective is because people will always speed no matter what we set the speed limit at. There are areas in the country where the speed limit is seventy miles an hour. I have been on these highways and while I’m doing the speed limit, I have been passed by numerous vehicles. Now if the speed limit on that same road was eighty or ninety miles an hour and I was doing that limit, I can promise you there would be cars still going by me. The thought in this country is that “Oh, the cops will give you five miles over the limit”. That thought process needs to be changed.…

However, there are also differences between the two stories and how they interact with their loved ones. For instances, Winter continued in love with Tommy throughout her life and Stan shows his love for his brother by buying a gift for him on Christmas. It shows their sacrifice they made to prove their love for them. Winter and Stan both expresses their love and sacrifice yet they displayed it in a different way.…

Speeding is not just exceeding the maximum posted limit but consists of driving too fast for road conditions (Pulse, The Dangers of Speeding). Speeding is illegal and dangerous. According to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration driving too fast is the second leading contributing factor in traffic crashes behind impaired driving (Association). Speeding is a triple threat 1. It increases the likelihood of crashing 2. It reduces the amount of available time to avoid a crash and 3. It increases the severity of the crash once it occurs.…
