Today August 30, 2008 Philippine Time history will be rewritten due to the much awaited reunion of the OPM band that mattered the Eraserheads.
In 3pm this afternoon fans love-ones and even children which are not born in the eraserheads era will be gathering themselves for the reunion concert of the Filipino Music Industry. From the campus of UP Diliman 4 men stood by the odds to produce music for the Pinoys by the Pinoys.
Starting from the famous inverted “E” to the “Monkey” in their album covers until the captivating pictures and the video interviews that made us all smile when we see Ely, Buddy, Raimund, and Marcus. I was reading my book “Tikman ang Langit” a collection of written works for the band and i started to think of making a blog entry for the event. I remember saying that “Kapag lang nagkaroon ng concert and E-heads ulit kailangan kong manuod!” but now I am trapped here in my house waiting for video post of the very lucky people who is now at this time watching the Reunion Concert of the band at Taguig.
Music in the Philippines was changed when the e-heads started to tickle our ears with music that lived for more than a decade. Until now I am still hearing song of the band played by people and being played in radio and T.V.
I also recalled that Raimund Marasigan saying to an interview that “The concert will push through because some emotions were set aside for this.” as we can recall that the break-up of the band was not really clear to us but now we can say that the band never really broke up instead they just waited for us to say “IBALIK ANG ERASERHEADS”. I see this phrase at video comments at youtube and other commentaries that are related to the band.
Who will forget the songs that helped us when we are sad like “With a Smile” when we are courting a girl “Ligaya” or even with our friends “Minsan”. The songs that are written and made by 4 men that loved to do music and to inspire themselves to become true musicians.
