ENTREPRENEURIAL RESEARCH PAPER: Page 3 Failure Introduction:
The business I am writing about is been in the news recently due to a few closures of some of their restaurants. Perkins & Marie Callender’s Inc., has recently closed some of their restaurants in the Florida and surrounding areas. The reason for this closure is due too the fact that the economy has been very unstable for a while, and the company has too cut back on some of their restaurants in order to keep a majority of their restaurants open to the public. These restaurants are considered sit down family orientated restaurants that are tailored to family meals and they even have express service for take out orders. They are considered a very reasonably priced restaurant that can fit into many family budgets for an out on the town dinner for a family. The atmosphere of this restaurant is considered a family oriented style and is very friendly and outgoing in their service to the public. Their competitors were other restaurants like McDonalds, Applebee, Texas Roadhouse, Cracker Barrel, and other family oriented restaurants. There were many restaurants that are considered to be their competitors, but in reality Perkins was a generally family oriented restaurant, with a friendly atmosphere and very reasonably priced, unlike Applebee who’s prices are more expensive, and their serviced and their atmosphere are not very friendly or family orientated. Perkins vision or their mission is to have 100% guest satisfaction and to provide superior service to all customers each and every day. (Perkins.com) ENTREPRENEURIAL RESEARCH PAPER: Page 4

Failure Introduction:
They have kept this mission throughout all their restaurants, and this is why many customers keep coming back to their restaurants. The business began in 1958, and is currently operating more than 440 full service restaurants and bakeries in 34 States and five Canadian Provinces. They are still operating today except for a few that are located in the Florida, and other surrounding areas. (Perkins.com) Perkins system includes 133 company-owned and operated restaurants, and 315 franchised units, more than 50% of Perkins restaurants are located in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, and Michigan. They employ approximately 25,000 encompassing both full time and part time positions. (Perkins.com) Perkins is considered to be a very well known family orientated restaurant that is considered very reasonably priced so families can have a night out on the town without feeling that they have too spend a lot of money doing it, and they can enjoy their family time together without putting a big hole in their pockets or their budget. Perkins restaurants and bakeries supply sufficient service and food for families that are looking to enjoy themselves on a reasonable budget without feeling like they have to take a loan out to enjoy a night out on the town and also they can enjoy their families as well throughout the night.

ENTREPRENEURIAL RESEARCH PAPER: Page 5 Reason for Failure:
The reason for the failure of some of Perkins Restaurants is due largely the way the economy has been around the World. The cost of running a restaurant depends on many things like food prices, wages, transportation of...
