1. INTRODUCTION
Management in all organizations or businesses is the act of getting people together and obtaining a method to accomplish desired goals and objectives. In order to achieve these goals, Management has four fundamental tasks which are Planning, Organizing, Leadership and Control.
The two Fundamental Tasks of Management that will be discussed are Planning and Organizing.
2. PLANNING
2.1 DEFINITION
Planning is the starting point in any organization therefore the first fundamental task of management .It is the process of creating and maintaining a plan and the activities to create a desired goal. Planning has 2 components namely the activities that are needed to determine the organizations goals, for example that more production is required with less costs incurred in a certain time frame, and a plan on how to obtain these goals, for example how much money must be borrowed or how many workers must be employed to obtain these goals in a certain time frame. The Planning Process consists of Goal Setting, Developing Plans and the Implementation of the plan. Goals are determined from the mission of the company. Developing Plans are the choices an organization has to make between different plans to achieve their goal. Implementation is the execution of the plan throughout the rest of the management process.
Planning consists of three dimensions namely:
1. Determination Dimension: A Business must determine what goals they want to achieve in a certain time frame and these goals will act as procedure for the business.
2.Decision-Making Dimension: The business must decide how and by which means they will achieve these goals.
